Decision Time - sell or repair
Hello all,
I am looking for advice on whether I should cut my loses or keep going.
I have just got my Jeep (2003 WJ 160,000 kms) back from a service from an independent mechanics who specialises in Jeeps. I had previously been taking it to the dealer who sold it to me (Gary Crick in Noosa).

The report was not good.
The following things were wrong:
Number 4 and 5 injectors are leaking badly.
The front shocks need replacing.
The front and rear diff is full of metal
Rear axle seals are starting to leak and will require bearings and seals asap.
None of this was ever mentioned by the Noosa Jeep people who I suspect were stringing me along for the servicing fees........
He has quoted a repair bill of around $6,000 to do all the work ($4,000 is the injectors). I am going to take it to another garage to have a look at but I was wondering what you guys thought? I am thinking of not doing the repairs and trading it in for something else. I seem to be throwing lots of money at it as there is usually a $1,000 worth of work that needs to be done each service. Quotes on price I have had for trade in is around $8,000.
I really like the car - it is smooth to drive, lots of space and I really like the offroad capability. I don't really want to get rid of it but common sense says I should. Downside of this is that the replacement would be something low milage and new like a Honda CRV or something unoffroady like that (wife's orders).
Can anyone offer any advice on whether it is worth shelling out the cash to save the Jeep or should I just sell?
Thanks,
Spaaarkz.**
