Default WK - Difference between a 2011 & 2012

Hi Guys,

I have been doing a lot of reading here and I am leaning towards ordering a Laredo soon. I know there has been a few issues but from what I gather they are from the earlier models?

What are the main differences between the 2011 and 2012?

I read here that the MY13 will begin as of July this year, but when I checked with the dealer, he said that wasn't true. Does anyone have some information on this?

Is the 2012 model hassle free?

Thanks!

The dealer is incorrect. The MY2013 production begins in Detroit on July 2.

There is a lot of information about this on jeepgarage.org. So have a look over there under the WK2 forum. In short though, there's not a lot of change between the 2012 and 2013 model years.

There is a major change coming next year when an 8 speed auto will be introduced.

Regarding problems, there are fewer issues with the 2012 compared with the 2011. A lot are being fixed through programming updates over time. Common complaints are issues with sat nav, noise from the self levelling rear shocks, quadralift not working as expected from time to time. Jeep's spare parts capability is poor at the moment, but hopefully improving with the opening of a new distribution centre and head office in Melbourne.

Love my 2012 Laredo. Only hassle I had between the 2011 model I ordered from and the 2012 model that arrived was the absence of front recovery hooks. Now somewhat fixed with one off road recovery hook on passenger side
and one on road tow hook on driver's side.
