Hi all, as it says above I returned from my 8 week holiday to find that the Alternator on my 2006 CRD Commander isn't working . Has anybody had any experience with this kind of issue and does anybody know how the Commander's alternator works?
Thanks

I recall seeing some information about a Jeep service bulletin modification to place a drip shield under the oil filler as any spilt oil can get inside the alternator causing is to fail. The list of bulletins were on this forum someplace.Of course if it is the problem you still need to replace the alternator.
The Alternator failed due to corrosion of the electronic regulator. Most likely due to a salt water crossing I did a while back. I thought I had cleaned it all down pretty well but the Alternator sits quite low and is really well hidden. Keep this in mind peeps if you do any crossing that may be salty.
