Default Diff oils

Hi all,

About to do my first oil change on both diffs, QuaratracII so no FM is required.

I was originally going oto use the Penrite synthetic diff oil, but at close to $60for a 2.5lt bottle and 2 of them being needed I changed my mind.

I'm now looking at using the Nulon 85w-140 LSD synthetic fluid.

Anyone used this in the past? Any problems or recommendations?

Should I use Sikaflex on the housings instead of a gasket?

Cheers
Tim

No gasket needed, use grey or blue RTV not Sikaflex. Also place the cover back on wait 40mins before filling the oil or it could leak. You probaly knew that but just in case.

Thanks Anthony, I didn't realise that!

Which is better the blue or the grey?

Another way of saying it might be which also has other uses around the Jeep.

I used the blue and Nulon, no problems use a paint scrapper to get the old stuff off and have 2 beers while waiting for it to dry before filling. Don't break the stupid plastic filler cap Jeep wants $25 for a new one.

Blue or grey does not really matter. The grey is usually considered better for direct oil contact like in diffs. I use the grey because I can get it in a cheaper brand than Permatex, I get it for $12. Both can be used where ever a sealant is used instead of a gasket. So use what ever one you can get.
