Hi there,
Maybe the oil problem is that the oil filler cap is not screwed on correctly. It is very easy to only have one lug locked and not both. Ask my how I know!!
Cheers

thanks bazza, but know. the engine does not have any oil on it nor the bonnet. the oil is only in the front right lower part, more underneath the front headlight and back to the wheel well and right side of car. it looks like it has come out under pressure but when we have started it up again (yes i have made sure there was oil in the engine) there is only a slight leak from somewhere near this plastic bottle (i think), the bottle might not have anything to do with it but i need to rule it out as i have come up blind so far.

Its not transmission oil is it? That will come out under pressure.

You have engine oil in the coolant. The container under the headlight is the overflow bottle. It is fed from the expansion tank which is the one up near the firewall. Have a look in the expansion tank you will have oil in it. There is a water cooled oil cooler on the back of the timing case on the passenger side of the engine. You can just see it under the front of the manifold. They can break down and leak internally and as the engine oil is under higher pressure thant he coolant the engine pumps the oil into the coolant. As teh cooling system become overfull from this the excess is dumped out the expansion tank into the overflow bottle and then dumps out over the drivers side wheel well. Be vary cautious about driving too much as if it gets worse you cna dump oil very quickly.

I have a thread on it here :

Mate, when you say you just bought it, how long ago did you purchase it? Was it a private or car yard purchase.

You may have some recourse from the seller if it was a very recent purchase.
