Rear Main and PCV ?
This recent Grand i picked up is giving me the shits..
Great car with no leaks, low k's, never been off road.
6 months in leaky welsh plug. So decide to decide to keep it nice by replacing all of them together with new coolant the works, which meant removal of the engine. Looking back i should of just stuck some stop leak in there and been done with it.
During the removal of the engine, the rear main seal was replaced as a precautionary measure. However that new seal failed about 2 weeks later. So back to the shop it goes for a warranty replacement rear main.
This week, that second rear main has failed! And there is oil all over the cats again, smouldering away when you stop for a while.
Needless to say, my mechanic is spewing and so am I. Lucky he's a jeeper also or else id have a whole other problem to cry about.
Anyway, we will be doing the rear main again for the 3rd time this weekend. With a genuine rear main kit and not one of the crown kits that has been used twice already.
Now, on my way home from work in it today I went to overtake and when i pulled out had no power at all. A few tests on the way home and I found that under flat foot, WOT (wide open throttle) it would surge and not rev out as it should and felt as though it was starving of fuel or something. Half to full throttle and its choking. Badly.
Once home I checked codes, nothing. So i got online.
The combination of these two issue's is steering me in the direction of a blocked PCV valve. Has anyone ever heard of a blocked PCV causing enough pressure to blow a rear main? And could this also be a contributing factor to my underpowered full throttle attempts??
Any ideas a greatly welcomed. Thank you.
