Default Transfer case fluid? which one?

I have a 2002 WJ 4.7 with Quadra-trac II (NV247) and am changing all my fluids...
I am finding mixed messages on the internet as to what fluid to use...

The original owners manuals online say to use AT4+ but I have found the following statement a few times, without offering a replacement fluid...

"The NV247 transfer case is generally reliable, but unfortunately does have occasional issues with the progressive coupler used in 4 All-Time. Most service documentation lists ATF+4 as the correct fluid for it, but this is incorrect and Chrysler published a TSB about it in 2000. ATF+4 will cause premature wear and binding in the transfer case and will eventually cause destruction of the case. If the coupler fails, then the vehicle will be in RWD mode unless you engage 4 LO."

This one was taken from http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f310/...guide-1271979/

So does anyone know for absolute certainty which fluid I SHOULD be using? It seems to be the only one I cant get a straight answer for....

I use Mobil 424 in mine along with many other fellas on here. You will find the Mopar stuff is bloody expensive, the cost of 20lt of Mobil is the same as 2lts of Mopar. Search the forum it has extensive coverage.

Yep Mopar or Mobil depending on your pockets. Plenty of conjecture out there that the Mopar could be rebadged Mobil anyway.

Well, at least if you use the recommended Mopar fluid you are assured of having the correct fluid. Using anything else you will never, never be 100% SURE.....this alone would keep me awake at night....that nagging feeling that you will never really know ?

hahahahahaaaaaaaaa

As others have said, use either Mopar:

or Mobil 424:

When I changed the fluid in my NV245, the mechanic had ATF4 in it.

424 has been running in my TC for around 100,000km, so I reckon that's a good test, at $6/LT compared to a rip off $58/LT for Mopar. It is used by the Yanks, Jeep in Sth America and many on this site, I don't have any trouble sleeping, in fact if I bought Mopar the thought of how much money I spent would keep me awake.
