Default Power Steering Fluid?

Hi all,

Quick question I need to replace my power steering fluid. The manual says to buy ATF +4 but I can not seem to find any for sale at any store. I asked a few shops and they had no idea and just said to buy the generic power steering fluid.

Will this work? or is their something else that someone else has used? If not i might have to try and get down to a dealer and buy some.

Thanks,
Matt

I know in XJ's there is only two PS fluids that are compatible. Mopar and Penrite PAS001. I researched long and hard and found no other companies saying their product would be ok in Jeeps. At the risk of being flamed, some say Castrol do one but I went to several shops and their listing guide did not cover Jeeps and neither did the Castrol website. I went with Mopar as it was the same price as PAS001. Besides PAS001 is a bastard to find in most auto shops. Someone might know what else is OK in a KJ but I am getting in early so incase you trusted the auto shops advice and used something that may not be ok.

Regards A

Thanks for the replies,

I wouldn't trust what most of the people in auto shops say. Some might know what they are talking about but i bet most of them don't!
