Default New HD Spings and schocks now rattles WH

I have installed Anderson HD springs, Munroe shocks and struts.
The rear was fine the car made no unusual noises.
When I installed the front HD Springs and struts two weeks later, the Jeep now has a rattle / knocking coming from the front only when we hit a series of small potholes or corragations. You can feel this thru the steering wheel as well as the noise.
Good roads or even dirt roads its all good its just when there is a series of small holes.
Its done 115,000 klm, diff mounts new and CV joints ok.
I didnt notice anything unusual when I had the suspension out.

It has lifted 50mm with the new springs etc.
Any ideas? I am thinking sway bar would not do that. so its ball joints or the mounts on the top arm ....but they seemed ok.

See my thread about steering shake.
I've had a very similar (same description, same km's, new diff mounts, cv's ok, etc.) rattle/knock to what you describe, which I've been gradually trying to figure out... until the shake started and I got more concerned.

Tightening the steering pinion/yoke seems to has stopped that noise (based on a 5min test drive.).
While reading about that, I found a lot of people having the same type of rattle after lifting, and solving it by tightening the rack. As-if the change of tie-rod angle makes the rack loose somehow.

You could rule the sway-bar out by disconnecting each end and tying it up for a test drive.
Then checking/tightening the rack is only a 15min job.

I assume you had the steering aligned after the lift, but you should get it done again if it does turn out to be the steering rack just to be safe.

Also make sure the front shocks(struts) are tightened to the correct torque setting. I've had a car once where the strut nut needed to be turned another 1/4 of a turn and all fixed.

I would check the struts first as pmac said, I was warned about this when I purchased my springs and shocks from Murchison’s, the nut has to bottom out on the thread.

Another way to stop the sway bar rattle (if that is what it is) is to pack the mounting rubbers with a large washer approx 2mm thick.
Place the washer between the back of the rubber bush and the cross member then retighten the retaining bolts.
This silenced the rattle and it has not been a problem since. I don’t recommend this as a fix, just a way of diagnosing the problem and a temp repair until you replace the bush’s.

By the way your grand looks sweet with the lift.

Yep, as others have already stated, check that nut. I had a similar issue when I lifted mine. Valpacer noticed the shock shaft wasn't sitting straight from one of the close-up pics, so I took it all apart and was surprised what I discovered; shaft eaten through half way on each side from knocking while driving due to the top plate setup I had with the lift. Neither top plate setup suited (stock or the custom lift) so I modded up one from two of them, LOL. Filled up the shafts with the mig welder and been good since.

Thanks
I had made that mistake and the nut holding the strut in needed tightening.
Got the torque wrench out and everything torqued to Jeeps specs.
But that has not fixed the rattle.
I have shimed the sway bar mounts thicknes 2 ice cream lids and we feel that has ruduced the rattle so for $30.00 going to order some replacement bushes off amazon.
Steering has no play and cannot find any play in ball joints etc.

Have to see in a couple weeks when the bushes arrive,

Default Esp

My wife took the Jeep out in the rain and went down some steep winding corners:
The ESP light flashed on and off a few times.

When she got home I scanned the system and came up with these codes:
Anti Lock Bracke system = no codes
B1401 Front left audio speaker output
TCM:
U1402 iMPLASIBLE BRAKE SIGNAL, I have tried a few times to sort this one, brake switch ok and all bulbs are to Jeeps specs.
P0730 : Incorrect gear ratio.

I am tempted just to leave it a week and rescan after a reset.

But with the lift and HD springs are the codes and esp light related?
Any Thoughts?
