Default Spare Wheel height and treg hitch

Hi all new to the forums and was looking for some advice/assistance.

I have a KJ 2006 anniversary edition and an off road camper trailer with a treg hitch. I can't open the rear with the treg on as the spare wheel gets in the way. I have found after market lift kits for the wrangler but haven't found anything similar for the KJ.

Whilst I have managed for the last year or so, planning a big trip for next year across to WA and have the feeling that not being able to get into the back with the trailer on will get real old real quick. Have thought about taking the spare off and putting it on the camper top, but not ideal having to take it off before we set up. Also though about turning the treg upside down but that puts the trailer with a real angle down onto the towbar.

Thoughts suggestions, anyone with similar problems?

Thanks

I imagine a lift kit wouldn't help the problem with fouling the tyre. Have you considered having a new tongue made with a slightly lower mounting for the towball? That is, a slightly longer vertical part of the tongue.

I have the same problem, but I can usually manage to yank the spare over the coupling on my current trailer.

Mate I wouldn't be turning it upside down, but its an old kj fault... The wheel relocation kit they sell for the jk should work on the kj they both follow the same stud pattern. DBOR sell them while you're at it you'll need a number plate relocation kit and again DBOR sell them... I used to hate constantly taking the trailer off the kj to get in the back.... Till I bought a jku...

Thanks, found the wheel relocation, but couldn't find the license plate one. Even with the tyre off I still can't get the dor all the way open, but at least I can get it most of the way.

Will this mean that the cover/numberplate mount will be removed? Just trying to get a picture in my head on how it will hang together.

You will have to call Bill on the licence plate relocation kit.. I can take a pic of mine tomorrow basically you'll have to remove the plastic yes then place the relocation bracket on the the the plate bracket...

Much clearer, but I would always appreciate a picture. I always thought the plastic cover was a bit of overkill, it will also make it easier to mount the reversing camera.

Will give them a call.
