Default Tricky situation...

So I moved to Victoria in Feb and kept my TJ as a Tassie registered car for a few reasons, it is cheaper for one and because I would have had to get a roadworthy which would have been a pain with the lift and 35's im guessing. In Tassie they just looked it over and went yep no worries! here is your rego...
Anyway I plan on keeping it Tassie registered cos im moving back there in 18 months but I am toying with the idea of dropping a LS1 into it while im loving in melb. Now As I see it I have a few options... 1 get it engineered over here and then send the papers back to Tassie to get them put through (if they will accept it) and I am not totally sure what they will go through in the engineering report and how much of a bitch it will be, even though novak provide all the adapters etc. 2. pay to take it back to tassie to get it engineered over there. 3. Get it registered in Vic and engineered. 4. dont bother and just keep the guzzler. Or 5. Just do it and not tell anyone... Lol.

Any insights people??

You do realize that after a few months in Vic you are in trouble anyway. You need to remember that if you are pulled over you need to say that that you have been in another state ~ say SA or NSW & only been in Vic for a few days otherwise redgo canceled on the spot & all sorts of other problems.

Layback is on the money.... IIRC there's a cutoff date for vehicles registered in another state.... I'd be checking with Vicroads ASAP.

P.S. you are also required to get a Vic drivers license within 3 months of moving.

Bloody states and their sodding 'independance'

I had to transfer everything (car, licenses etc) when I moved to adelaide within 3 months.

Aren't we all Aussie?!?!

I havent 'officially' moved. Still have my postal address in Tas. And just renewed my Tassie drivers license. $30 instead of $230 odd. So you are saying if I was to have a Holiday in victoria for a few months I would have to prove I had left the state every few days?? Doubt that.
