Default 30's over 235's and rubbing on LCA's?

Hi Guys,

I have now got the 2" OME suspension fitted and it looks/ride great. I got on average 40mm increase (which says how much the original sport had sagged) now I'm looking at tyres.

Now I know I can fit 31's on the stock wheels etc but I'm kinda trying to keep within the regs (well maybe skirt them just a tad) and I'm also very aware that the perception of the minister for war and finance is a powerful force.

So I have searched but not seen much on either of the above sizes (30's & 235's) having issues rubbing on the LCA at full lock. With the lift in I shouldn't have issues with rubbing on flex but seeing as I live in the hills and there are lots of small roundabout to drive around i don't want rubbing on the inside everytime I drive around, the complaites from the missus would drive me nuts!!

So has anyone had issue with these sizes rubbing on the inside? Also is going up to 30's worth it over the 235's. Main reason for this is there are way more tyres available for the 235's that I've found from pretty much all applications from highway to full muddies but the 30's have a small selection etc. And I'm not sure the extra 1/5th inch diff clearance is that big a deal.

Cheers for any advice/opinions on the matter

You will probably never rub on the road, you wont be seeing full lock on those roundabouts. You could also extend the steering stops a little, they wont need much and you probably wont even notice it.

Cheers

I have run 30's and 235's on mine with both stock arms and aftermarket.
The 235's are wider but shorter when compared to a 30, the 30's are the same width sidewall to sidewall as the stock 225's but have a wider tread surface.
I found with mine the 235's would rub on the arms but the 30's didn't but the 30's rubbed on flex in the front until I extended the bumpstops to prevent transmission line damage (never flexed it on 235's).
I run airbags in the rear with a reinforcement bracket behind the airbag mounts, the 235's would rub on the bags but the 30's clear them.
As Steve F mentioned you can adjust the stops to suit the 235's and you would be lucky to notice it.
For me personally I like 30's over 235's....

hmm I thought the 30's were wider at 9.5" being somwhere around the 245mm mark?!

if I'm less likely to get inside rubbing with 30's then I think that'll be the go. I can look at slightly extending the bumpstops if thats required to stop rubbing at flex but I can wait and see on that one.

If you haven't extended the bump stops it is best to do before going offroad. The trans cooler lines squash under full flex no matter what the tyres.

my 235s used to rub on the CAs when I had ATs. Got muds and it was never an issue.
