What happened to your motor, they seem fairly robust, heaps of Mercs use them and no reported dramas?

happened in Brisbane felt down on power I gave it a bootfull and all hell broke loose fault codes turbo underboost limp mode. It had a rattle, maybe oil pressure had to leave it there. Jeep specialist had a look at it in capalaba reckoned eng was stuffed. Wanted 10k for a second hand engine. So trucked it back to the Hill no one will touch it here so its been sitting in the yard didnt want to pull out the motor myself then have to strip it down. I found a replacement motor on ebay wrecker qld floods have gone through the interior. Figure I can do an R&R then sus out the motor that was in it and if its not terminal fix it and sell recoup some of the cost.

If it fits together like a German motor bike, it should be straight forward.
The only thing I have heard, is that it is critical you mark the conrods and b/e caps well. Front, back, left side, right side, both rod and cap are matched pairs and cannot be iinterchanged.
The big end is cracked, not machined, so only work one way, therefore both the rod and the cap have to be well marked and numbered, to be returned to the original cylinder and facing the original way it came out.
Best of luck, it should be fun.
