Default Problems after tow bar installation.

I spent the Saturday afternoon fitting the Mopar Towbar to my Trailhawk, it was more of a mission than I expected but i got there at the end. Anyway... I went to start the car after the install and found the dash telling me the key I was using was damaged, I got the wife's key and still got the same message. I pried out the push button and turned the car on with the key, no problem, no warning lights, all the tail/brake lights & indicators are working, the reverse warning indicators and camera are still working... I checked all the fuse's and they are ok. The doors lock and unlock with both remotes... I'm thinking the push button thingo is stuffed?

Or,

Does the car need to be reprogrammed to suit the tow bar or some odd thing like that?

Any help would be useful!

The car is booked in at the Dealer next week.

I fitted a redarc brake controller the other weekend to mine and same thing happened.
Using the remotes, open and close the car three times quickly. This should reset the computer.
Turn everything off, then start again.
It get's confused when you do things to it. Mine's all good now.

Gday trailhawk
I fitted the Mopar towbar myself as well, & your right about it being a bigger job than it first looks. The rear plastic & all the hidden clips made it a pain.
I didn't have any problems after it was all done. Everything worked as it did before.

Cheers fella's, I will try the reset when I get home, it would be good to not have to take it to the dealer (unless they have a update for the Sat-Nav... but that's another story...)

Silverfox, it took many more beers than I expected... let me put it this way, I had to recheck my work on Sunday morning

Trailhawk, there is a proximity sensor for the key in the trim around the spare tyre just in front of the hatch striker, a little blue connector, if you forgot to plug this in, or turned the ignition on with this unplugged you will get the symptoms you described, make sure this rear proximity sensor is plugged in then disconnect the battery for 10 minutes, reconnect and all should be fine

Hmm, the key lock unlock did not work... I'm thinking you might be right Yoda. I will take a look as soon as I can.
