Default WH Grand Cherokee Tyre Pressure Sensors

Quick question.

I have standard rims and tyres, but if I upgrade the rims and tyres to something larger, what happens with the tyre sensors for pressure? That is, what happens with the gauge reading on the dashboard?

You can do two things. One us to get the tyre guys to move the senders to the new rims, or two, order a second set. Get them from the US for a lot cheaper than local though.

I have another query re: the sensors.

I purchased a set of sensors for my off road wheels / tyres. Last weekend I deflated the tyres to 30psi and nothing showed on the dash. I then deflated them to 25psi and 'Low Tyre Pressures' constantly flashed up on the dash.

If I remove the sensors from my second set, will the 'Low Tyre Pressures' warning not appear??? If so, I would be better off removing them if I intend to run them at 25psi.

Cheers, Craig

You'll get an even more irritating "something is wrong" chime from the TPMS.
I just had it disabled entirely. There's a TSB which guides the dealer through disabling it (using StarScan.).

The annoying thing is, it still automagically revives itself in the presence of the sensors, and requires the same StarScan procedure to kill it again.
So I had the sensors removed from both sets of wheels.

There's been talk on the Superchips forum about the Flashpaq being able to disable the TPMS using the same procedure as StarScan (which would be acceptable to do for each off-road outing I recon.), and possibly adjust it, but I haven't seen any evidence of it yet.

An aftermarket sensor which reads deliberately high (so your off-road wheels could read say 30psi when they're actually at 20.) could be popular.

When I drop the pressures on my 07 WH I get the chime each time I start the vehicle and the "Low Tyre Pressure" warning appears and stays there but it doesn't keep "chiming" I just ignore the message. This happens for a week while I am at Fraser once the pressures are back up the warning stops.

You can get the tyre pressure threshold lowered in the computer if you can find a dealer to do it, some are reluctant as it is safety issue

http://www.autoenginuity.com/ has the settings to do it.

That's good to know thanks.
Yet another reason for me to bad-mouth Suttons Waitara .

PS; is it you who has the Auto Enginuity? I've seen someone post about having one.
