Default 2012 JK up to 29.6L/100KM FUEL CONSUMPTION & OTHER PROBLEMS

Hi all.
Im new to the forums and have have owned my 2012 JK for around 18 months.
it has done only 11,000kms
Couple of months ago as soon as it hit 10,000km my fuel consumption went from roughly 15L/100km to 23L/100km.
now i have been very happy with the car as i have managed to get 12.9L/ on the highway and between 15-17L city driving. (95% is city driving).
there are zero modifications to the car and has been serviced on time everytime.
i use get up to 480km out of one tank but now the fuel light is on at 290km!!!!!
So what should i really be getting on average with city driving? 13L???

So i contacted the service department and the guy was shocked with the results i gave him.
He advised to get on the freeway and give the car a little thrashing as it may be locked in a mode or something.
Anyway i did that but it only dropped to around 18L then slowly crept up.
So i booked it in for a check up (diagnostics etc) and at the same time a service.
they advised my no faults found and that the fuel consumption idicator was not accurate.
upon picking up the car i could not belive my eyes, it was sitting on 26L then crept up to 29.6L.

Now guys what do i do?
Im thinking i will take it back to them and say to fix the issue.
But if they still dont manage to what do you recommend?
Contact Jeep head office?
Contact ACL / consumer affairs??

Second problem:
Also my drivers side door, upon closing bounces back and does not latch on numerous attempts. One night we thought we shut it but discovered in the morning the door was wide open and the car was parked on the street!!!

third problem:
Water leaks from the hard top near drivers side.

Fourth problem:
With softop fitted and driving on the highway both back side windows catch the wind and flip back

I would be hesitant trusting electronics to gauge your fuel consumption. The only real way is to fill it, drive it 100km or 200km and refill do that say 5-6 times and work out an average based on what it takes to refill it. As for the other issues someone no doubt someone who owns a JK can help you out with the JK specific probs.

Regards A

with the door not latching like that ... you'll find driving it will increase the fuel consumption to 29L/100km... JUST JOKING!

Its a bit hard to ask a service guy to "fix" fuel consumption. They'll just turn around and say that is all on you and I would agree, however, if the vehicle is consuming additional fuel without any changes to driving behaviour etc... that is a bit strange. That's quite a jump up you state.

Assuming you have also checked your consumption the good old fashioned way (manually)? as has been suggested??

Has the servicing been done by Jeep? Have you escalated your concerns with the manager at the servicing dealer? What diagnostics did they run exactly? Have you just been reading the gauge and filling up thinking its nearly empty? What if the electronically run gauge is not working and that the economy figures which come from that are a result of this... not really sure what to suggest.

I'm doing half that with F&R steel bars, lift, bigger tyres etc.

Serviced by Jeep only twice since new.
Have not spoken to service manager which i will do do soon.

Well simply filling up when fuel warning light appears.

What are your getting with a full tank? 400km? more?

Has your roof always leaked? Mabe you have not seated it in properly, its a bit tricky also you have to put the passenger side on first. Also the same with the soft top. Have you put it on properly. its zipper and valcro pluse the overlap should stop the wind getting to it anyway. Try some wd40 on your lach it may just be binding.
How many liters of fuel goes in when it says its empty? Is the car still runing ok? Have you dented the fuel tank? Are you idling the car for long periods of time?
I have a 3.8 and im getting 500km to 65L mixed hwy/city

roof has leaked when heavy rainfall occurs mainly
It is also always fitted roperly 100%.
Soft top to, however at the top edge were the back door close there is always a gap.
will try WD40 on the latch.
from memory last refill was around 78L. i ran it down as much as possible.
Not dented tank at all.
not idling car for long period. it simply has become much thirstier since hitting 10,000km.

Also i forgot to mention that one of the service guys advised me not to use shell premium as it is a waste of money and also that chrysler have a lawsuit against shell in Canada as they have cars that have been affected due to shell adding detergent or something to there fuel that has caused problems in the fuel system of a lot of cars.
