Hi. This is my first post. Can anyone help with what size thermo fan to fit on my 4.7 ltr V8. I'm trying to get my fuel consumption down.
Cheers jay

The wj already has a thermo fan + a clutch fan.
Without the clutch fan it will overheat.

Don't some V8's have a hydraulic fan like the superior CRD's.

A decent set of extractors and a exhaust revamp would give better fuel economy add a snorkel even better, if you mostly rattle along the highways a K&N would be good but I don't like them in the dirt as they don't filter as good as a paper element. It might need a throttle clean up and new plugs but a V8 fella would be the one to give better info, as an oil burner owner it's another world to me...lol,lol.

PS: If your running big arse rubber that will kill off the economy also.

Yeah there is lots of info about fuel economy and things that can be done, the fan only kicks in when its needed so is going make little difference.
Remove any unnecessary weight or objects that create air turbulence.
Ensure motors running well , ie o2 sensors etc.
Raise tyre pressure, drive gently ,etc.

Not necessarily, extractors and a larger exhaust can actually drop performance and economy if you aren't careful.

I wouldn't waste money on a K&N filter, I've never seen any test results that show they improve power, if anything it is usually the opposite.

If you make any changes find a way to measure the before and after, there are a number of ways, one possibly easy way is a Dyno app on your phone.

There are also a heap of ideas on the http://www.autospeed.com you can use to check before and after.

HTH,

Jason
