Default Grab bar ram mount for MY13

Here is how i installed the RAM ball in my JK.

First as everyone knows the bolts on the front of the grab bar only screw into the decorative trim which is only held in by clips so you cant mount directly to this.

What i did was remove this trim and then remove the inner bolt which takes out the grab bar. I used a tap to thread the dash to suite an m8 and replaced that bolt with an m8 one then i bent up a piece of aluminium.
I used a tap to thread the front end of the alloy to accept the new m8 bolt that i have installed through the ram ball and the decorative trim. This was because the hole in the trim is offset to the bolt hole in the dash so you can not just add a longer bolt through the two of them.

Then cut a piece of alloy tube to act as a spacer so i could clamp down the bolt and all finished. I added the spacer as i found that you could not putt enough pressure on the bolt/ram ball with out pushing the trim into the grab bar and it looking odd.

Seems like a lot of mucking around just to mount a tablet but i wanted a solid mount that did not attach to the window and did not really want to add anything inside the cab. Yeah i know i am just fussy.

Ram ball part number:
RAM-B-367U
Can be sourced from any reseller check the Ram web page for resellers.

Looks good, your solution was quite straight forward and easily reversible should the Jeep be on sold. Also it looks factory the way you've built it. Wish I could do that in my KK.

Default Grab bar ram mount for MY13

I'm loving the position and how solid the mount is on currogations.
