Default TEKONSHA Primus IQ Install

Fellas I am trying to fit up a PrimusIQ brake controller.

I have done a bit of research but I really want some local knowledge/experience on what is the best point to pick up the brakes on signal.

At this point the best I can narrow it down to is the White wire with Tan stripe on the Brake Pedal Switch loom.

Anyone else here done a install successfully? I just don't want to let the smoke out of something.

Yes, picked it up off the brake pedal with no negative side affects... Some say that coming off the tail light will avoid any issues with the abs etc but hasn't been an issue in the JKU... Touch wood!

When I did my P3 I ran a section of twin core to the trailer plug in the LHS tailight. That way I'm not cutting into wiring that isn't load bearing and just signal inputs to the TPIM. You have to run the brake signal wire anyway so run two. Once in the tailight you can tap into the brake light feed and the brake sense wire at the harness and all done in one hit!!
Found it was simple, safe and didn't cut a single wire on the factory harness, only the tow bar harness and it's all reversible in seconds!

I have a Tekonsha P2 and I spliced into the white with tan stripe wire. The smoke is still inside the controller and my trailer brakes on command. Installation is pretty straightforward, pos, neg and brake signal in, and the blue wire is the output to your tow bar plug.

Yep did the same with the white-tan wire.

Though I like the idea of running a twin to the trailer connector rather than a single. Simply pull the brake light wire from the plug and twist the input wire to it and stick it back in the trailer connector. Stick the brake controller wire into its hole and job done.

I would say that would be a whole lot easier than contortioning yourself to get the wire under the dash.

Sent from a tiny keyboard with fat fingers, apologies for my spelling. .

Yep I am picking up my 12V+ from down the back anyway, due to malfunctioning onboard trailer brake controller that the Primus is replacing.

So I may as well pick up the brake signal as well.
