Default transmission noise - anybody in Brisbane south with jk CRD auto?

Hi everyone,

My recently purchased 07 CRD auto (55k kms) is making a weird noise from the transmission and I'm not sure if its normal. Its an airy ERRRRH noise that lasts a second or two between shifts either up or down, mainly under moderate acceleration - not heard usually with sedate driving. It only used to make this noise very briefly but now it seems to be getting worse. I hear the noise as if coming from near/below the shifter.

Its a relatively subtle noise so maybe its normal - I'm new to jeeps so I'm appealing to see if anyone would like to have a quick listen to tell me if its normal or not.
I have warranty from the dealership for another couple of months so if it is a problem I want to jump onto it.

I'm happy to drive anywhere on the southside to meet up Preferably with someone that knows/owns this particular engine/trans combo.

Otherwise I'm loving this jeep!

Cheers,

Dave.

Hmm - I heard this noise a few months ago in mine. I have 2011 JKU-D. A fortnight ago the transmission totally carked it. $20k warranty job. Still waiting for her return.

Hmm that's not what I wanted to hear. But you do have a different type of box than mine so hopefully not the same issue. What ended up being the problem with yours nursechocolate?

You mean transmission fluid level? I assume it should be around the half way mark? Or on the full?

Read the manual on how to check it, there is procedure and make sure you check while the engine is on.

bump for the evening crowd

Also I checked my transfluid (owners manual only has instructions for petrol 4sp), when warm and running it was between the hot and cold marks.... When cold it was just below the cold mark but well above the fill mark.

Its booked in for the dealer (a ford dealer unfortunately) for them to have a look at. If they don't know then it will be off to Stu for him to take a look and do a trans service too.

I'm still keen to see if anyone local wants to see what they think of the sound. Any takers?

Cheers,

Dave.
