Im happy to be corrected, but when I was looking at buying my ARB front bar, the guy at the ARB store (who drove a Jeep - yes rare I know), said there may not be enough room between the Smittybuilt winch and the Jeep's grille if fitted to an ARB fr bar.
He went and checked in his system and came back to adv that it is not recommended with their front bar. He wasn't trying to flog me something else, he was just warning me (pardon the pun).

Of course on other bars, it may not be an issue. As for the winch itself, I have not heard much at all. Perhaps check some of the US forums too.

That's quite odd.... the "footprint" of winches is pretty much a standard now days.

Sure some winch / bar combinations require as small amount to trimming of the front bar chassis mount, but that's no big deal.

I would have thought so too, but didn't want to commit to something and then found out it was 1-2mm from touching the grille.

On the seventh day god created angle grinders to fix the mistakes of the last 6.

Grills are cheap.

I can deal with a tiny little bit of "customising" if need be, but I can get another brand that doesn't need any cutting... so....leaning towards another option now.

Sorry - lets not hijack the thread the OP wanted to hear about people's experiences on the winch...

Hi guys! I'm not really a forum guy but stumbled on this post while doing my weekly check of what's for sale here

I've run an x20 on both my last hzj105 and now on my 2014 jk rubicon. It's been used up the cape with camper trailer and a few times on the rubi and have been very happy with it. When I lived in the states I did a lot of work with smittybilt and was very happy with their other products so running the x20 was a no brainier for me. I have had no problem fitting it to my or other jeeps with arb bars. I manage the fleet dept for an arb distributor here in Ipswich and have no problem recommending this winch to others.

Have a good night

Ben
