Default Optima D31A Not Fitting in Wrangler JK

Just tried fitting the Optima Yellow Top D31A battery in my 07 Wrangler JK and after JUST getting it to squeeze in there I have discovered that the retainer clip will not fit. Now I'm wondering if I've even fitted the battery correctly. I've added some photos of the battery position and the retainer clip that was attached to my old battery (a roadside Allianz battery). If anyone has any suggestions on how the battery should be sitting or if there are any retainers I can buy to secure this battery it would be greatly appreciated! In case anyone can't access the photos below here is a dropbox link - https://www.dropbox.com/sh/dqjw4psys...2k2a7Hoju8CsBa

Looks like a petrol 3.8 motor which is interchangeable with the optima d34 series.
The d31 series batteries are for the crd which has a specific mould for it

Yep, a mate tried to install the D31 in his 2010 Rubi - same problem. It now resides in an external battery box and a D34 replaced it.

Sorry, can't help with the battery position other than to ask if the D31A is the right battery for a petrol JK?
I know the diesels use the D31A as I just bought one last week as my previous one died but I don't know if the petrols need the same battery.
In my JK the battery tray is shaped to fit the D31A so it drops straight in. If it's not fitting then that might indicated it's the wrong battery type. Just guessing though.

Oh, and it's great to see an engine bay that's dirtier than mine

PS Looks like I was pipped to the post. Got to be quick around here!

Ah bugger! Thanks everyone for letting me know! Looks like I'll be buying a D34 now. I guess that means if anyone wants a brand new Optima D31A you can take it for $350. I can provide the original receipt as well for Australian warranty as well. Hahaha thanks Paul-JK I try to get it as dirty as possible.

Now if you'd made that offer last week I'd have taken it off your hands. Right place, wrong time as usual.

For anyone who thinks they might need an D31A I'd heard that supply was looking a little slow over the next couple of months so even more reason to snap this one up.

Haha so where are you, just in case I'm interested Mine has done 5 faultless years, but don't expect too much more. Still even with these last few weeks of 4-6 degC mornings in Perth it's still cranking well.
Matt.
