Default Help Please! WJ OBD Light

Hi,

My 2001 WJ V8 - the On Board Diagnostic light has come on there three times - and the vehicle has actually stalled twice. Once when turning a corner - and of course, losing the power to the steering! (she's a heavy bugger with no power to the steering!!)

The vehicle momentarily ran rough before it stalled on each occasion.

Can anyone throw any leads as to where to from here?? I am in South Hedland so not too many Jeep dealers here.

Any advice is appreciated. Needless to say, it's in the garage for the time being.

Regards

Ray

use this to at least determine what fault code it is.

It's difficult to say without knowing what fault codes are indicated. It could be many many things.

As eveyone else has said check for the codes, but from my own experience with my WG V8 it sounds like a crank angle sensor.

Angry Thanks millions

Thanks millions guys - I am a relative newbie to Jeep - what is the three key business??

Thanks heaps - the damn thing did it again this evening! I had taken the battery leads off and let it settle down for 24 hours, and found that the battery leads were not really on that tight, so they are now. But, the same prob happened this arvo !!!! The vehicle seemed to surge a bit before the light cam on again, and then a few moments later, stalled.

Turn your key forward to just before starting, then off repeat 3 times. A numbered code will appear in the odometer, otherwise it will say "done".

I'm guessing it's your crank position sensor + camshaft sensor.

Check your battery and battery cables.
