Default Auto Trans Oil Cooler External

Hi

Have a 2005 kj 3.7l Petrol Auto Looking at getting an external trans oil cooler. Is there any issues in installing these? Where are the installed (In front of radiator?) and do you run the external with the std or disconnect the standard.
Also is it wise to get a temp guage at the same time
Thanks for your help

A trans cooler is a great investment.

Ideally you should run it on the output side of your STD cooler in the radiator.
Heat is the biggest killer of transmissions off road & towing generate lots of heat.

Just remember not to make the mistake 90% of workshops make and plumb it upside down.

Many generic kits around to choose from.

A temp guage is nice but not really essential. I had one in my race car and binned it due to the stress it caused me watching the temps..lol

Cheers,

Sorry to hijack the thread but having just read this thread the post by
jwrangler the part now worrying me is this
"Just remember not to make the mistake 90% of workshops make and plumb it upside down."
having fitted a auto trans cooler to my wrangler I have installed it with the inlet / outlet nossles pointing downwards.
I hope i got this right but more importantly would be the flow direction from the radiator cooler to trans cooler(checked by feel & thermo) i hope this what jwrangler is referring to.
