Odd Tyre question

So I'm looking at options for when my standard size tyres wear out and I'm wondering about going to 225/75/16's. According to my calculations they're slightly taller than the 235/70's that come standard. Is there any issue with going to narrower tyres?

Why would you go to narrower tyres? Most members here go for wider tyres as they are more suited to offroad driving, particularly on sand. 245/70R16 is still legal for the KJ.

Not criticising your choice, just interested in the reason.

Not withstanding any other isssues reported by others, remember that you must maintain tyre load index's at or above the rating stated on the placard.
If that was OK, I'd reckon the 225's would be a good choice. (same diameter as 205R16. common size = cheaper)

Re the legalities you can technically go up to a 31" if you could find a way to get them in without lifting the vehicle, without any rubbing and without sticking out from the guards...

Really comes down to what you want to do with it and if you plan to do any mods?

My thought was that it's a really common size for tyres to be made in and they are normally available in at LT make. not too sure whether too many 245/70's are made as LT tyres.

Also I've heard there can be scrubbing issues with the 245s, I thought this way it might avoid them and still have the benefit of increased lift.
That and they tend to be a bit cheaper.

I've never had a scrubbing problem with 245/70 and I also had no concerns with 245/75 - didn't even touch the pinch welds.

Pirelli Scorpion is a LT tyre that is available in 245/70
