Default i think my turbo has just died

on the way home tonight my jeep started blowing blue smoke and gave a bit of a rattle when i lifted of to change gear then went quiet and gave normal power again, every time i changed gear i got a rattle , i can start it and bring the revs up slowly with no probs just a little bit of smoke no noises, so im guessing my turbo has pupped itself.

Sounds like it's cactus mate.
You will need to pull off the inlet hose to the turbo & see if you can spin the turbine & feel for that rattle. Also see there is excess oil in the inlet.
Mudmonster just got himself a new turbo at a great price. Hopfully he will see this post & help you out here.

Where abouts are you? I am in Concord NSW

Eddy

i would check tif the turbo spins freely and has no movement first
how many K has yours done?

if you want a good second hand turbo to save some $$
I have one for you can have for $100 plus a little bit of postage (no its not my old one )

it is a very pleasant job, you just need a lot of patients did I say a lot of patients?? and a small hand

special tools
13mm socket in 3/8 drive and 1/4 drive and the flexi joints
a 22mm short spanner possibly a flare nut style i made my own for the oil feed line.
get everything undone and to remove the exhaust manifold, i found it easy to drop the gear box a few mm on a motorbike jack and have someone push the gearbox as hard as they can towards the passenger side so the manifold can fit past the studs.

a good day and a half.

if you need anymore info feel free to ask i only did this a few weeks ago, so its pretty fresh in my head
