Default CJ7 on carsales

Hi all

There is a burgundy 1985 CJ7 for sale on carsales, sorry I don't know how to link to the advert, does anyone here know anything about the car? What do you think about the price?

Also any advice on buying a car like this? I currently have a jk and I am keen to get a cj but don't know a great deal about them.

Any common problems with the cj7. I know the 2 piece axles weren't great.

Any help much appreciated

Cheers

85 should be a wide track, which is good, is it auto or manual? Check around the steering box mtg for cracks, and, rear of the front spring mount, rust in the windscreen frame, and rust just forward of the front door opening, and where the front guards are double skinned, CJ's are old skool cool, great for windscreen down jeeping!

Just had a look nice CJ by the sounds, NP435 is an f100 Tranny, really good low first gear, I have one in my CJ 6,
Expensive but guess it depends on what you want, it will not handle like a modern jeep, but who cares!

Thanks. Yeah it is pretty expensive but there isn't much to be done to it from what the ad says.
The problem is there are never many to choose from.

Just how bad is the handling compared to a wrangler?

Well they tend to wander a bit, just take it for a drive and make up your own mind, be prepared to be always fixing something, just the way it is with an old jeep
