Default Detroit or LSD

Hey guys so re gearing the TJ and deciding whether to go with the factory LSD with thick cut gears or go the regular cut gears and a Detroit auto locker. The price difference isn't massive I'm mainly concerned with how it drives. As some of you know its an off road race car (not 4wd/winch comp) so I'm mostly driving it at high speeds and cornering not low range work. There are a few advantages and disadvantages i can see but having never been in a Jeep with one i don't know which way to go. Having it locked after the apex of the corners would be good as it would slide a lot nicer and should put power down a lot better when lifting and bouncing the wheels around. However if it comes on aggressively/unpredictably it could end very badly. The other concern I have is if it locks going into a corner we will be heading straight off the end of the track which is not a good thing.

So for anyone with one in the rear of their Jeep what do you think? Any advice helps but I'd especially like to hear from anyone who has been somewhat of a hoon and had it quick and side ways on the dirt.

Cheers guys!

Specs d44 4.56 gears and Detroit. Have put it through its paces in the dirt and it likes to push into the corner but once you have it pointed and punched through the corner it will hang out until you run out of legs or the car has spun out haha. To be honest if you are just racing loose dirt no real mud or rocks I would be keeping LSD (or pony up for an Arb/tjm/ected) and keep it in 4wd will be able to push into corners a bit harder without it pushing you wide and will stop you from sliding. It's not a real fun thing in a tj to be sliding all the time , it will tire you out in a long race.

We run 4wd high range the whole time so we do at least have the front pulling us around. Are you still running the 4.0 and what size tyres? Does it have the go to keep it sideways through most corners? The main problem I've found with the steering is through the sharper corners its hard to turn sharp enough and get back on the throttle. Most of the buggies and trucks in higher classes slide pretty much everywhere and have the power on from the apex where as were still trying to get it round the corner.

4lt/6 speed 4.56s and 35's. Havnt had it in 4wd when sliding as it has a front auto locker so would push straight through the corners. It has plenty of power though to hang it out.
