Default Cherokee problem

Arvo fellas, I'm selling off a commodore and I have an offer of a swap for '98 Cherokee and I thought well I have the GC so why not a Cherokee lol. The commy has a value of about $2200 so unless the Jeep is a bucket I think I'll do alright. I haven't gone to look at it yet but it is sounding a bit dull. The rear window is broken, no biggie but the engine light is on and he claims this is because it is overdue for a service? Does this sound correct,I tried googling and couldn't find anything. Thanks fellas.

The light has nothing to do with when the service is due , more a problem somewhere that may or may not be caused by lack of servicing . a scan gauge or similar will help you find out what the cel is for, there could even be several causes .

Yer I figured as much, he sounds like a bit of a clown this bloke. Just found out the Jeep has over 300,000 kays so I might give it a miss. Thanks again.

A well maintained 4.0 has many many more km's potential than 300K. Look at a substantial number of Xj's in the US with many reporting milage of well over 200.000 (miles not km). The question with the xj from that 'clown' is of course....has it been (well) maintained at all..
