Default 2010 WH Grand Cherokee vs 2013 Toyota Prado

Drove my mates 2013 Prado Diesel from Yamba to Gold Coast and back this morning 500 klms. Obviously did some comparisons with my late 2010 WH
1.Uncomfortable seating
2.Gutless motor. However only 25000ks so will probably get better
3. Harsh drive train especially when accelerating.
Know wonder the new Grands are selling well .Really no comparison in highway cruising mode. Will have to take him off road next !!

The Grand Cherokee and Prado are selling about the same (~1400 a month). I don't know how Toyota get away with selling the Prado for the prices they ask. Some people will just buy toyota no matter what crap they make.

The prados are very generic and plain but that's what some people want. Interesting you say noisy drive train. I have never noticed that. Is it a base model?

Maybe they buy them because there is something like 10,000 more places around that can and will work on them. I know I will never buy another jeep unless there is a dealer in town and that also goes for just about any other brand too.
Stuff that driving 100 odd k's for service/warranty work to still get stuffed around which happens at many dealers across many brands these days.

The Grand is a good buy if you live in a major metropolitan town.

Good point, if you are in the bush, then its either toyota or nissan. But the toyota diesels aren't as bullet proof as they once were, and if they do ever get around to putting modern tech in them, then they will likely have all the problems the GCs do. But as others have said, at least you can get someone to fix it.

Still I can't bring myself to pay thousands more for a car that is so crappy to drive.

My mate has just bought a new GC 3 weeks ago. Dash and driving lights go off together randomly at night. A good start!!!Glad they arent building aircraft. Most 200 Landcruiser owners Ive spoken to reckon the 100 series they traded was better than the 200.s Google problems with other makes and us Jeep owners aren't alone. However I do believe FCs parts backup and service is downright appalling, and their dealer network is a bit light on!! What the heck do you buy. After 18 years with Jeeps you sort of feel married to the bloody things.
