Default Glow plugs KJ CRD

Well how about that?! I'm in the same boat. Just a couple of days ago I got an engine light, I took it to keep and they diagnosed it as glow plugs. Would like to see an answer on this also.

I got a full set off eBay for about $70 from memory. They were from an Italian eBay store and were highly recommended for the VM diesel engines. I'll see if I can find the link for you.

I only had one that was out, but by the time I got around to changing it another one had died. You can test them with a multimeter

One of mine has a high resistance of 135 ohms. Specs states 0.8 ohms. On Lost Jeep they mention Etecno 1 glow plugs, 7V and steel sheath as a replacement.

There are plenty of old threads in the KJ forum on this subject, and check through the parts thread. I was part of the pilot for the pre-production run of the Italian Etecno glow plugs and they are still functioning just fine some years later. They are a direct swap in for later model KJ CRDs. The resistance values for the glowplugs are in the service manual an various threads. You don't want to see zero ohms (open circuit) or high resistant anything over 10 ohms I would change. Normal reading s only about 3-6 ohms. Make sure you unplug the modulewhen you test down to ths plug. You will need a thin walled 10mm socket to get them out, thick wall socket won't fit in the recess. If you have to change #3 or 4 then your in for a big job as the intake elbow has to be removed to access the plug. You can mix the etecno plugs with the stock plugs but i'd change the lot becase you'll just be going back evengually.

Thanks Glend.
Have been considering Etecno plugs, just after some confirmation which I now have from you. Will be changing all plugs. They are now all removed and one has high resistance, 135 ohms. Just have to find a reasonable supplier.

Hi Hanna.
Would love the E-Bay store address. Found some on a UK store but at about twice that price.
