Default Good idea or dumb idea?

One the weekend I am installing my new AEV rearbar and tyre carrier and was thinking its a shame to lose the use of the rear fog light switch (don't care about the actual fog lights). So what I am thinking is to extend the wires and run them back up to the front and use them for either
a) an LED light bar
b) a pair of small LEDs
Is it more trouble than it's worth just to use an existing switch?
Let have your comments good, bad or otherwise.
Cheers

Remember you will have to switch them with high beam.

From memory, you need to have the front fog lights on in order to tun the rear ones on using the OE switch i.e. you can't only have the rear ones on. If you are planning to have more lights in the future you are probably better off getting a switch pod.

Navra 5WLED work lamps only draw about 1.9Amps so it should be ok but stick with LEDs if you going to use the factory wiring. Halogen would need new wiring.
Why don't you wire it up to a relay with a triple switch, that way you can have it
1) ON
2) OFF
3) On with reverse lights.

Wow... that's 23 Watts input power for a 5 Watt LED. Seems pretty inefficient !

I have a rear LED wired to the (rear) factory fog light switch on my TJ - it only works when the headlights are on.
