Default Towing with 3.8L 3:73 gears and auto

Hi guys anyone towing with a 3.8L auto with 3:73 gears 33" tires, I know everyone will say re-gear and its on the cards but is it bad like real bad with 3:73's...camper would be 750kg tare loaded up about 1000kg, 80kg ball weight.

A camper has come up at the right price but I cant re-gear for about 6 months and I was going to do lockers also.

Cheers Stephen

until you regear, have the auto checked out and extra cooling needed and when towing, turn your overdrive off so there is less strain on the transmission and should be fine.

Auto has been flushed recently and filled with new synthetic oil and a auto trans cooler added a week ago.

my mate towed his top of the line Johnno's camper (not sure model or weight, but it was the big one) behind his 3.8L 3.73 auto without a problem..
turn off overdrive and all will be ok.. just keep an eye on trans temps

I always switch my OD off when towing but I also turn it off when driving through hilly areas or undulating country when loaded up.
Can't stand the persistent changing up and down all the time. Drives me nuts!
More importantly it is easier on the transmission under these circumstances and it doesn't seem to have any negative effect on the already crap fuel consumption, in fact, it probably improves it.
Obviously, this is subjective to the individual setup of the vehicle, especially with the final drive ratio and tyre combination.
