Unhappy Fault Codes - U140B, PO733 & U3FFF

Driving to work yesterday I noticed that it was stuck in 3rd gear. I pulled over turned the car on and off, took off again and everything appeared to be ok. This happened again on my way home, and was fixed by turning on and off.

About a week prior to this I have had the ABS, Traction Control, ESP-BAS and SERV 4wd lights come on intermittently with the Code U140B - Implausable LR wheel speed signal received. I have ordered a new wheel speed sensor that should be arriving late this week, hoping it would resolve this issue.

So as I took off this morning driving to the shops, the usual warning lights came on for the wheel speed sensor, but a little way down the road and the engine light came on. I pulled over and plugged in the OBD2 reader using the Torque App. The following codes came up:

U140B - Implausable LR wheel speed signal received
PO733 - Gear 3 incorrect Ratio
U3FFF - I understand that this is not a real code and a better reader is required to obtain the code?

Driving home everything appeared to be working properley. I will try and take it to Jeep for a proper diagnosis. But cause it will probably take them forever; thought i would see if anyone had any insight on this.

Could the PO733 code and transmission issue be related to the ABS and wheel speed sensor or is this a seperate issue? Has anybody experience anything like this before or any suggestions?

2009 CRD 155,000km, GDE tune. I think it has the 545RFE transmission.

It's not uncommon when a wheel sensor goes for it to start tripping other codes since a lot of systems rely on that information.

I haven't experienced it but think you're doing the right thing, replace that sensor first ASAP and see if it fixes the other problems before going crazy.

After replacing the rear wheel speed sensor and driving for nearly a week now, it appears to be all good no more transmission fault codes !
