Default Reasonable price for TJ Dana 44

What do you all think is a fair price for a TJ rear diff?
I haven't found one yet but would like to go looking soon to upgrade from the D35 and have no idea what they go for.

Thanks.

i paid $400 for the one in my xj some years ago then had to strip it bare and set it up with spring perches and shock mounts , as well as cost of re gearing .
Not sure on cost now , i have not seen many come up for sale on this forum and i dont miss much here.

Thanks mate.
I have been keeping an eye on the for sale with no results and the usual google searches are slim pickings so i will probably end up getting one from a wreck or wreckers.
I know there is a lot of work converting from coil to leaf but honestly I'm looking forward to that bit.
Re-gear will be easy and I've got an idea for a pretty stout truss too. Just need a starting point and hate the idea of using a Ford 8.8 cause it's Ford lol.

I did not like the idea of ford due to the narrower track as my 31`s at the time on stock wheels had bugger all clearance on the rear springs with the d35 track width , i ran the d44 on 31`s with stock rims for some time before going to 33`s and 3.75" backspace rims . i have a center with 3.55 gears for the 44 if you need one.

So do you hate the ford parts already in your xj too??

Also, the tj d44 isnt as strong as the xj d44.

And you would still have to regear?

The loss of width was another deal breaker too.
I'll keep the centre in mind if I need it thanks. Will be going 4.11:1 when it happens.

Yep, lol.

True. Good luck finding one. No I'm not importing a diff.

Re-gearing would be required no matter what.
