Default XJ Air Intake mod

Has anyone modded their XJ air intake using short ram or cool air intake kits? There seem to be 3 main popular options, all in-between $200 - $400 on eBay. They're all from the USA though.

HPS Cool Ram Air Intake - $250
AEM Brute Force Air Intake System - $375
Airaid Cold Air Intake System - $310 (Airaid seem to be the biggest seller).

If anyone has modded their air-intake, did you notice much of a difference after installation? what option did you go with? where did you buy the kit from?

Has anyone bought one in Oz?

Kit? I bought a sheet of 10mm polystyrene and glued it to the walls of the airbox and wrapped the intake pipe with aluminium backed fibreglass. The manifold felt quite cold to the touch after a run. May have been my imagination but it seemed to go like the clappers. I took it off because fuel consumption went up and I didn't need the extra power.
Another mod was to put an air cleaner filter into the old plenum box on top of the manifold to free up space for a battery in the airbox posi. Worked ok but got dusty very quickly so that came off too.

A snorkel is cheaper than that and is really good cold air intake, my intake temps dropped significantly after putting one on, I can't remember the figures now but even just touching the airbox after driving it is noticeably cooler than before.

Definitely the way to go IMO. Plus the benefit of lift above water & dust.

G082528 FPG Air Cleaner 8" 90 Degree Outlet

Check out GOJEEP site about putting the big cannister type filter in. Also spent many hours reading up and really didnt like the idea of pod filters (block up with dust) or cowl filters (pita to change without proven results). My opinion anyway.
$155 WITH primary filter (the filters last forever) - http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/271811726...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
Filters are plentiful and cheap from ag supply or truck/tractor part stores. Only wish i didn't have ABS pump in the way so i could do it.

Apologies for a bit off topic
