Default Dana 44a c-clip?

Hi guys,

Just checking. I have a 2.7 CRD with dana 44a rear. These diffs are c-clip?

Thanks.

Everything I've read about them says the 44a has no C clips
Are you chucking a locker in?

Thanks. I was hoping to. I had a quick nose around the net after posting here and it appeared as it they were c-clipped.

I was looking at a Harrop e-locker and they won't work with c-clippys.

Ah nice, I think the 44a has a wider carrier than normal 44 too, , does yours have the traclock or whatever they are called axles? As they are different again I think. I've been looking at locker options for mine too.
Someone with some hands on knowledge on the subject will chime in soon hopefully.

Don't remember if C clips or not but ARB are doing a locker specifically for them now and until they did no one else was (not sure if Harrop have changed recently). The only option prior to that was a TracLoc LSD or an auto locker but the auto locker did not work with the electronics of the 2.7. There was no standard TracLoc offering from the factory there is only QuadraTrac (open diffs) or QuadraDrive axles and QuadraDrive axles are not compatible. The 44A was only used in the WJ/G Grand and is a totally different diff to the 44, so unless Harrop list one specifically for the 44A they are not compatible. Housing shape is also different so there are no heavy duty diff covers for them either except for one plate steel one in the US and one that was made here

Thanks Fester.
So its only the diesels that don't play nicely then? I should be fine with whatever suits the 44a seeing I have the quadratrac and 4.7. I might just go for an Aussie or some sort, cheap and easy to fit, carriers don't even need to be pulled it looks like on the Dana, much easier than my IFS Hilux I had.

Yeah Aussie Locker is still fine for the 4.7 V8 but in the CRD it triggers limp modes. We think due to upsetting the speed sensors circutiry linked to the Auto. The only options for the 2.7 are an ARB locker or a TracLoc LSD.
