Default Wheel size problem

Hi all!

Recently purchased my first Jeep earlier this year, KK Cherokee Limited 2012.

Have begun doing a fair bit of camping and heading around the nroth of Queensland (Living in Cairns). Jeep came with 245/50R20 Goodyear road tyres and wheels.

Would love some advice on which wheels can fit and what tyres to look at. Can find Nitto Graplers for the 20inch wheels but only in a 265 profile which would not fit under the wheel arch.

Hoping to drop down to some 18's but now I face the problem of brake caliper clearance, I think it should be fine but I have been warned to check. Secondly, I would need to find an all terrain tyre to fit the 245 profile so that I don't disrupt the speedo and such.

Really want to get these road tyres off and get something a bit more suited to travelling off road.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers guys!

I replaced my 20" city slicker tyres with 18" Falken AT's. So far have about 20k on them and all seems well. Got a deal from Bob Jane for wheels and tyres.

regards

Thanks for that Bruce. Im heading in to see them tomorrow and hopefully they can help me out.

Did you have any trouble with tyre profile messing with the speedo?

The Bob Jane guys I went to went out of their way to check that the rolling diameter of the new tyres was the same as the stock ones. With 18" tyres and wheels your have no brake clearance issues and the 18" are a common size on Toyotas so finds replacements off the beaten track shouldn't be an issue.

By the way I do a lot of highway miles and limited dirt miles. I've found that the Falken AT's are a great compromise between on road and off road tyres.

regards

Look around for the stock 18s from ppl who have gone to 16s/17s. You'll get them at a bargain and they look good. Mine are in Bris if you're nearby.

Vards is right. If you are in Perth, then I have 5 mint condition stock 18's sitting in my shed, that I would sell.

He's in FNQ, I've been in Perth for a few days and spotted a few modded KKs already, Jeeps generally seem fairly popular over here. I like the plate on this one.
