Question uneek baja bar install question

HI guys,

Recently bought this -> http://www.uneek4x4.com.au/jk-tj-baja-bar/ for my a 2003 tj

Just started on the install and noted a potential issue with the tj mount bracket.

It seem to be a little too large for the mount point and does not feet appropriately snug. See below images.

Anyone with experience in installing this bit of kit?

Options I see are:
1 - I got given the wrong brackets
2 - put some washers in there (didn't get any in the kit for this)
3 - just bolt it down.

I was not expecting such a gap there.

Any comments welcome.

looks wrong to me

Don't bolt it down without washers, it looks like it could flex the whole bracket and you might end up with your bull bar angled downward a bit

send the pics to your supplier?

Yeah, already shot some picks to the supplier and Uneek.

My thoughts exactly. Considering the tj bar is only held on by those 6 bolts and it will have a winch. I think ill wait for the uneek or the supplier to respond.

However I suspect that will be sometime during the week. I was hoping that someone out there mayhave installed one

THanks for the response mate. Appreciated.

It will be fine with a suitable shim (not washers) fitted between the bracket & the chassis, surprised they were not in the fit kit.

The guys are saying it is as designed. Still following up. Not overly confident.

All my previous bar installs have been pretty snug to the chassis.

The idea of attaching a winch and winching of that does not fill me with confidence. Hopefully I am missing something.

Will update once I get to the end of it for other future punters.

Cheers

I'm with you, I don't like the idea of a big gap. The uneek number plate bracket I bought didn't fit, there were 3 holes to bolt it to the spare wheel carrier and one was half a hole out and the other over a hole out. I was lucky I had a small mill and was able to make it fit pretty easily.

Do you have a 5 x 5 bolt pattern?
