Depending on the current required for the lamps, you might want to run that to a relay.
Do you know how much current the LEDs are drawing, or their combined power rating?

They would be less than 5 watts. I will try using the voltmeter on possible take off points near the fuses/relays under the bonnet. That way I avoid taking more cables through the small grommet near the brake pedal. Thanks for the suggestion. I do have a Hayes manual with wiring diagrams in it which should help find a suitable power source. Cheers N
