Head Liners

Has anyone done a DIY job of making effective head liners to keep the cabin of a JK cool?

Otherwise, what are my options of buying some in Australia...

I like the look of Boom Mats the most really dues to the thickness

Best thing ever, I bought hot heads direct from the USA and they are not worth the money but do look great. I went to the trouble of installing hush mat under the headliners everywhere except the areas the double sided tape adheres to. Doubled up in some areas. That made a big difference and wouldn't install hot heads without the hush mat. Hot heads look great like they are factory fitted

I've seen a few and some posts on DIY. The hotheads are certainly just a thick cardboard with a stretchy material put on them and held with staples so they aren't rocket science.

I've also seen some made of sound adsorbing acoustic foam which didn't look half bad and probably worked really well for both sound and heat.

The challenge can be getting them to stay put, double sided tape just doesn't ssem to last so a more permanent glue or even Silicone may help.

You can buy an aircell / alloy foil sandwich insulation on Ebay which is excellent for insulating the inside of the roof....its very light, so contact adhesive should hold it nicely.....above that, you could make your own thin MDF panels and cover them with some thin closed cell foam and headliner material. I'd use some 3M VHB double sided tape, or industrial hook and loop tape glued onto the liner and the inside of the roof.

i think they come with foam struts to fill the channels in the roof
all foam is peel off backing and adheres with 3M stuff

postage is a killer though
