Default Replacing factory bumber and fog lights with led bar light

Hey Guys,
I have just replaced my factory bumper with fog lights with a bull bar 9no fog lights) and I am looking to install a led light bar. Can I connect the led bar to the wiring that used to connect to the old fog lights and how?

Unless the LEDs are "fog" lights, then legally, no ....... forward facing driving lights (ie, distance, spread or combo lights) are required to be wired so they can only come on with the high beam, and have an internal cabin switch to turn them off as well.
If they are fog type LEDs, then yes, you should be able to use the factory fog light wiring as the load of the LEDs will be less than the factory fogs.

What he said ^^^.

No point using existing fog light wiring for a LED bar designed as a driving light. It by law must only come on with high beam and thats really the only time you want it.

With it onnected to the fog you can turn it on with parkers, with low beam but not with high beam.

Please do not connect anything other than actual fog lights. And don't use them unless it is actually foggy or dusty.

Hang on guys if it's rigged to both the fog and the hi beam wouldn't that do the job? If foggies arn't installed that's a useable switch right there?

You want it set with hi beam though. I'm having mine changed but I had set it up only so far as to a panel switch, has been unusable on country roads where I want it to expose critters, and a needless pain in the ass offroad. The law aside it's a bloody nuisance without being able to kill it with the hi's, and crazy dangerous attempting to run it on any public road.

Good point!

You could wire it to the fogs for power and then have that switched through a relay triggered by the high beam. That covers the 'only on with high beam' and the 'separate switch in the cabin' requirements.

The fog circuit is quite low current...... IIRC it trips out at about 50W so keep the current draw down so unless its a small light bar going to need relays in series.

I do like your idea of using the fog circuit as the control circuit... wired correctly solves the problem as long as you don't need foggies again.
