Default OME 4" Lift kit durability question

Hey guys,

Wondering if anyone can offer a little advice please on the following -

I purchased a UK spec 2.8 CRD 4 door Sahara Unlimited JK Wrangler and am looking to lift it.

I was toying with either the JKS 2.5" JSPEC kit as it seems really durable and well built but then I came across the OME 4" lift as seen here > http://shop.jeepey.com/product/4-sus...el-omejk4rhdd/ The price is excellent, the parts look well built and it seems to come with everything I would need.

After a little research it would appear that if you lift over 3" you require new drive shafts and control arms, is this always the case or would I be able to simply fit this 4" and not worry about it?

Cheers guys.

At that height, I think you'll be needing, at minimum, a new front shaft.....possibly both.
The OME stuff is usually pretty tough, but you'll find the springs are often regarded as quite stiff.
Not a lot of people here in Aus lift this far, as to be legal it requires an expensive engineer's assessment and report for approval.
Hopefully, someone with an OME lift will chime in......

Question what such a lift lift is actually going to achieve.
I don't really know what it adds?

You get a bit more breakover clearance and that's about it. To do properly is quite expensive by the time you actually replace lots of things.

I would suggest progressive rate springs over linear unless you plan to carry heavy loads often.

Didn't realise there were such heavy restrictions in Aus, apologies.
Maybe one of the JKS lift kits may be a better idea??

A lift of that height isn't restricted in Aust. However the current rules only allow for a 2" lift without any kind of certification.

Going higher is allowed, it just requires an engineering certificate to ensure that the modification is safe. It's a pain, but it stops people from putting ridiculous ride heights on their vehicles without any kind of safeguards.
