Default FCA announce new oil spec for RAM Eco diesel.

Well this gets interesting.

All the drama about MS-11106 seems to be over with FCA changing their oil recommendation recently. All the new owners manual diesel supplements now say:

We recommend you use 5W-40 synthetic engine oil such as MOPAR or Shell Rotella that meets FCA Material Standard MS-10902 and the API CJ-4 or ACEA E9/E7 or ACEA A3/B4 engine oil category is required.

I think we can safely ignore the Chrysler MS 11106 bullshit (that no one could actually find out what it meant), and use pretty much any quality oil designed for modern diesels with DPF.

I always considered the MS 11106 another price gouging attempt by FCA considering the engine was designed by VM Motori not Chrysler. As long as the oil you use has a low sulphated ash content less than 1 % as stated in the MS 11106 you are good.

I am a bit confused here, what is the difference between the CJ-4 rating and C-3.
My understanding is C3 is the low SAPS oil that we still need.
