Default Worked on the A/C

Only been about six years since thr jeep had working ac
Two years ago I replaced the under Dash unit, supposedly leaking

Then got an ac guy in, he pressure tested the system and blew out one of the steel hoses at the bit in front of the radiator ( check out the techno talk here)

So I removed the condenser? And the hoses wit the view to getting the hose repaired

So how two years later I have it all back together and its holding pressure

Woo hoo so might try and get the ac guy back to regas

I will need to replace the drier, but the ac guy can probably do that as I can't find the type my car has here in Aus.

You never know might have some cool air before the summer is over

Default A/c

Just a heads up but if its been 6 years not working I would expect issues with the compressor seals and o'rings. you maybe lucky but just be prepared, we're supposed to advise the customer to turn the A/C on once a week for 10 minutes to keep all the seals lubricated and prevent leaks, good luck with it.

Thanks for the input , I've replaced all the union/ joint seals/o rings

But yeah I'm not confident about the compressor

Sort of expecting to replace it

Tell me do you know where I can buy a receiver/ dryer to suit over the counter

Thanks

Default a/c

No not over the counter but I buy trade from cooldrive ( not doing much A/C anymore), glad to hear its working. Did mine a couple of days ago, put a secondhand compressor on to replace leaking one and so far so good except the clutch bearing is a bit noisy, oh well another day job.

I was a little concerned about cooling as I run twin electric fans, but so far all good, it does run a couple of degrees hotter with the a/c on but still no more than 100 on the gauge,

I have the fans switching either by the A/c or the engine sensor

When the ac is on both fans come on

As I said seems to work ok

Today was 30 degrees and I left it sitting and it maintained a temp just on an indicated 100

So I'm happy

You could possibly get a mid pressure fan switch to run the fans when the a/c is on and they would only switch on at low speeds and stationary which is how I do it running just electric fans. No need for them to be on running down the highway etc.
