Default Electric brake controller install

After searching I am still in the dark.

I am fitting an electric brake controller to the Commander and I have watched a couple of videos on you tube and an instruction page on a Jeep site, and they point out there is a green wire in the factory loom near the fuse box that runs to the brake pin on the trailer plug.

This Jeep has an after market towbar with a 7 pin plug and 7 wires going to the plug.

So I am hoping they have used a plug in loom of some description as it looks pretty neat going back into the loom from the trailer plug.

What I can't find is the green wire that isn't terminated near the fuse box.

Has anyone fitted a brake controller to a Commander and can shed some light on where to find the existing brake wire?

Alternatively where did you run your brake wire to the plug?

Apparently the green wire put the production over budget so they removed it later in the model run.

Mine is an 05 WH, and has the wire, but I've heard later year model owners have stated it's not there. Mine hung about 6" out of a loom somewhere near the brake pedal if I remember correct.

Cheers,

Robert

I have a 2010 WH and it has no wire,i ended up running a wire from the brake switch near the brake pedal to a flat 12 pin plug, i can't remember what pin number it went to or what the reason was for hooking into the brake switch, the wiring map is in the van witch is stored at my daugthers place at the moment.

Thanks for the replies, I had to run a wire from the controller to the plug.

On a side note, I managed to break the brake light switch while removing it, got a new new one from my local auto parts store for just on $50, lesson learnt.
