Default Dana 44 ratio help, 4.55???

So Im having a HD30 regeared to 4.56 as we speak, based on what the front diff had in it already that was paired with the 44 I'll be putting in. I just cracked the hat on the 44 for the first time to check out the state of the internals and I was quite surprised to find a 50/11 ring set in it rather than the expected 41/9. I don't think such a small difference in ratio's will matter overall but I had never even heard of a 44 with this tooth count before. Can anyone shed some light on this for me? Anyone else running this ratio?

Never heard of a 4.545 ratio before but it'll be fine with the 4.56 front. It should be a stronger gearset as there's more chance of having 2 teeth in mesh

Yeah neither had I until this but after some googling that's the general consensus (being stronger). Just wish I knew what brand they were.

Actually I've heard bith sides if the better and not debate because on the flip side the less teeth on the pinion the larger&stronger they are.
Personally I don't think it would be much difference.
But to the original question I'm not running it but its perfectly fine. Just use it.

Agree with Wooders, just don't engage the front on hard ground but you shouldn't be doing that anyways.

Technically you want the front running a poofteenth faster anyways so....

A lot of the ratios are slightly different front to rear.
My 4.10's are 4.11 front and 4.09 rear.
