Lightbulb CRD Transmission Control Module

HI GUYS
I want do something with the manual gear selection side of things as i get annoyed when the car still takes over and chooses what gear it wants. Manual means Manual.
I have seen something somewhere on how to modify things to make it work more as a manual and cant remember where i saw it.
Has anyone here done this mod ? or know what to do

cheers

I haven't seen any DIY, however you can send a TCM away to the USA and they will reprogram it for you to your specifications. I know it would totally transform the vehicle for sure.

I'm going through the TCM reprograming route right now.

I got a custom TCM programed from the States & it did have what you are asking for BUT!

The problem's
1- When you select low range it goes into limp
2- As CRD's aren't common in the USA my tcm is tuned to a petrol model & if I plant the accelerator I hit red line (in D ) & it wont shift up a gear.
3- Diff ratios are 3.73 in USA CRD's ours are 3.55, they aren't interchangeable unless you regear.
4- US CRD tcm's are a pain in the ass to find, I'm still looking.
5- throws a code saying not compatible (but still works & no dash lights).

The Good
1-You can manually select 5th
2- Manually whatever gear you want 1st to 5th & it won't change unless you slow down to much
eg: slow for an intersection & forget to change down. It will drop to 1st or second so you can drive off safely but wont change up without you manually doing it.

I got my TCM from
http://www.ostdyno.com/products/chrysler-tcm-flashing/
I sent my original TCM to them the were unable to read it.

http://www.jeepkraft.com.au/ say they can get TCM's reprogramed but its over $1K

My thoughts are that a UK tuner may be the best option as there Grands are the same as ours & CRD's are the norm over there.

From the drivers side, under the steering wheel, behind the heater box.
You can only see the 2 plugs that plug into it not the box.

GDE seem to be the experts on these Grands, may be worth sending them an email.
