Default Commander alternator (3ltr)

Hi guys
just replacing my alternator ( bugger of a job ) just noticed that on the new one it has two pins where the plastic clip fits in the back, where as i have only one wire to plug in,( or should say mine is a single wire) just wondering is this of concern or perhaps the alternator is designed for a range of motors, and in this case the second wire is redundant.
any help would be appreciated before I install it, don't really want to remove it again.

Just got home 35 min ago, what part number did you get?

I haven't replaced mine but I'm sure we can nut it out together.

Just got home as well, sorry about late reply, I bit the bullet and after checking the original alternator i discovered it also had provisions for two wires in the black connector which goes or rather plugs in the back of the alternator. but as I said i only have actually one wire, so through reasoning i deducted that it must cater for other vehicles with the same motor that requires the two. I re installed it and all seems to be fine, charging at the right levels etc...thanks for the reply though, I cant complain the old girl has 312000k's on it and apart from the standard bushes that i have recently replaced she has been trouble free, hope i haven't jinxed myself.
