Default December rant ~ a day early ! Merry Christmas

Havent had a good rant page for a while.

My pet peeve at the moment on AJOR is members wanting technical advice by PM. I get lots of them. Several have taken my advice to ask in a thread & have become good active members.
Why not just ask on a thread?
There are probably other members that would like information about your question.
I am sure I am not the only one that gets these PM's.
Why keep your question a secret?
There are plenty of other members who will be able to give you the info you want.
In the latest example, there is one of our most experienced XJ diesel members living very close to you. He probably could help you.
I have yet to meet face to face a good diesel mechanic that knows much about the VM425.
There is a lot of misinformation about the #1 injector & limp mode. Ask on a thread & you will get all the help you need.
Think your question is stupid? Well its not. The answer you will get from me by PM from now on will probably be though.
Maybe from now on I should just copy & paste the PM's into an open forum that way all can comment.

I understand what you’re saying and agree. To a large extent anyway, but I can understand the other side too, if the person is a newbie they will feel intimidated by posting on a forum, especially if they are asking for help as their first question. I’ve fielded a few questions from other members via PM and I don’t mind it, but I’m not burdened by the reputation of being an “expert in the field “.
And yes, some may feel their question is stupid, or had been answered elsewhere and they were unable to find it, or didn’t understand the answer provided.
